A Workforce Toolkit to Recruit and Educate
CareerSource & Employ Florida
CareerSource can help with candidate screening, and referring qualified candidates to you. CareerSource has 24 regional boards throughout Florida, and many of those have multiple offices within an area. This regional approach means there is no one central location to go through for all of your openings. Each office operates a little differently, so you’ll want to request an account manager or a business development manager (titles vary among offices).
https://careersourceflorida.com/business-services/ Employ Florida is the state’s job board for use by job seekers and employers. You can use the website to post jobs, recruit talent, find labor market information, and training providers in your area. https://employflorida.com |
Get There Florida (Career and Technical Education)
Get There Florida is a state-wide initiative to get people trained for skilled jobs through Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. CTE programs are broken up into 17 different career pathways offered at Florida high schools, state colleges, and technical colleges. Businesses can attract future talent by getting involved with schools that offer CTE programs. This requires an ongoing commitment to working with students, schools, and program advisory committees. Visit the website for more information about CTE in Florida.

SkillBridge for Veterans
SkillBridge, a program sponsored by the Department of Defense, is an opportunity to attract those who are separating from the military. It allows servicemembers to work at a civilian job as they transition out of military service. To participate, companies must be accepted as an authorized partner, which involves setting up a training program. This may be a better fit for companies located near military bases, though that is not a requirement.
If you want to hire former military, but don’t want to enroll in SkillBridge, working directly with those who do out-processing for military bases would be another approach. For more information about SkillBridge, including instructions on signing up as a partner, visit the SkillBridge website. https://dodskillbridge.usalearning.gov/industry-employers.htm |
